Annual Events
Rockport, Texas is a coastal destination known for its laid-back atmosphere, strong community spirit, and a year-round calendar of events that celebrate both national holidays and cherished local traditions. From waterfront festivals to seasonal gatherings, there’s always something happening that brings residents and visitors together.
Spring kicks off with one of the most anticipated local traditions—Fulton Oysterfest. This long-standing event is considered a true “local holiday,” featuring live music, carnival rides, parades, seafood vendors, and the famous oyster eating contest. It highlights the region’s coastal heritage and remains a favorite kickoff to the festival season.
As summer arrives, Rockport comes alive with patriotic celebrations and beachside fun. Memorial Day and Fourth of July festivities draw crowds to the waterfront, where families enjoy cookouts, live entertainment, and one of the area’s most popular traditions—the Wendell Family Fireworks show. Lighting up the night sky over the bay, it has become a signature Independence Day celebration for the community.
Summer also brings art festivals, fishing tournaments, and outdoor events that take advantage of the Gulf Coast setting. Visitors flock to the coast for Memorial Day, Fourth of July celebrations, and the famous Rockport Art Festival, one of the most recognized art festivals on the Texas coast.
As fall arrives, locals look forward to two of the area’s most iconic traditions. The annual Rockport-Fulton SeaFair transforms the harbor into a lively coastal festival featuring live entertainment, gumbo cook-offs, crab races, carnival rides, parades, seafood, and family activities. Many residents consider SeaFair a true local holiday and a tradition that defines life on the coast.
Another signature event is the Rockport-Fulton HummerBird Celebration, which celebrates the annual migration of ruby-throated hummingbirds through the Texas coast. Birders and nature lovers from across the country travel to Rockport each September for tours, educational programs, wildlife viewing, and coastal exploration.
Winter rounds out the year with holiday celebrations that include Christmas parades, light displays, boat decorations, and waterfront festivities. These events create a festive coastal atmosphere that blends small-town charm with holiday tradition.
Throughout the year, Rockport’s events reflect its identity as a vibrant coastal community.
