Fly Fishing
The Rockport-Fulton area offers some of the best fly fishing on the Texas Coast. Crystal-clear shallow flats, year-round redfish populations, and protected waters create ideal conditions for sight-casting to trophy fish. The middle Texas coast's exceptional water clarity allows anglers to spot redfish tailing or cruising from over a hundred feet away.
TARGET SPECIES BY SEASON
Spring (March-May) - Prime Sight Fishing Redfish (Excellent), Speckled Trout (Very Good), Black Drum (Good) Water warming triggers aggressive feeding in 6-12 inches of water.
Summer (June-August) - Early Morning Action Redfish (Excellent), Speckled Trout (Good), Jack Crevalle (Occasional) Fish early before heat. Look for tailing fish in skinny water.
Fall (September-November) - Peak Season Redfish (Outstanding), Speckled Trout (Excellent - trophy size), Black Drum (Very Good) Best overall conditions with large schools and aggressive feeding.
Winter (December-February) - Challenging but Rewarding Redfish (Good), Black Drum (Excellent), Speckled Trout (Fair) Target deeper channels and protected areas on warm days.
